There are many different theories that explain how people become socialized, including psychoanalytic theory, functionalism, conflict theory , and symbolic interaction theory . Social Learning Theory, theorized by Albert Bandura, posits that people learn from one another, via observation, imitation, and modeling. The theory has often been called a bridge between behaviorist and cognitive learning theories because it encompasses attention, memory, and motivation. Unlike functionalists who defend the status quo, encourage social change, and believe rich and powerful people force social order on the poor and the weak.
